Sourced facts: prices in the table carry their source and check month and belong to third parties. We cannot guarantee availability, sightings, safety or weather.
A Labengki Sombori tour is usually sold in one of two forms: a shared open trip with a minimum head count, or a private boat trip priced by group size. Operator Asik Travel lists three to six days. Several open-trip rates apply to Indonesian citizens only, so foreign visitors should ask before comparing numbers.
What kinds of Labengki Sombori tours are published?
Packaged trips make sense because of how the water works. Operator Asik Travel describes every crossing as a chartered or tour boat, so sellers bundle boat, room, food and transfers, and the question becomes which bundle fits you. This page compares what third-party sellers say about themselves. None of it is our offer, and a seller's description is a claim until you have it in writing. Our Labengki Island overview covers what these boats actually visit, and most routes pair the Labengki lagoons with a day on the Sombori Islands.
| Seller | Format | What it publishes | What to pin down |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haraduta | Open trip | Price for Indonesian citizens only; vest, mask and snorkel included; a trip below quota is cancelled or repriced | The quota and how much notice you get |
| Tournesia | Open trip | Price for Indonesian citizens only; foreigners ask separately; life jackets listed | The foreigner price, in writing |
| Jelajah Sultra | Open trip | Kendari agency; each departure needs at least ten participants | Whether your date has reached ten |
| Asik Travel | Private | Three to six days; per-person rate falls as the group grows | What sits outside the price, such as snorkel gear |
| TripTrik on GetYourGuide | Private | Three days from Kendari by private wooden boat; choice of resort, beach hut or homestay | The room category behind the headline rate |
The figures themselves are in the price table on this page, with the seller and the month for each. Compare like with like: a three-day shared rate and a three-day private rate are different products, even when the stops read the same.
How does an open trip differ from a private trip?
An open trip sells seats and a private trip sells the boat.
- Departure certainty. An open trip goes ahead only if enough people sign up. Haraduta says it cancels or reprices below its quota, and Jelajah Sultra sets its minimum at ten. Book flights that can move, or wait until the seller confirms the quota is met.
- Control of the day. On a shared boat, the group and the crew set the pace. A private group has more room to ask for a longer stop, though tide and weather still decide.
- Boat speed. Ask which boat you will be on, because it can change your day. The travel blog The World Travel Guy reports a 45-minute drive to the harbour, then about one hour by speedboat or three hours by wooden boat. More on the Kendari to Labengki crossing is on its own page.
- Room type. Asik Travel describes three kinds of stay: village homestays with twin share and shared bathroom, beach huts and cottages, and Labengki Nirwana Resort. Ask which one your rate assumes, then compare them under where to stay on Labengki.
- Language. The World Travel Guy warns that English is scarce in the villages and in most of Kendari. If that matters to you, ask whether an English-speaking guide is part of the trip. Do not assume it.
How many days should a trip run?
Asik Travel, which sells these lengths, sets them out as follows. The World Travel Guy separately treats three or four days as the norm. A sample of how the days fall is in the Labengki and Sombori itinerary.
| Length | What Asik Travel says it adds |
|---|---|
| Three days | The basic route |
| Four days | A full day on Labengki |
| Five days | Mbokita and the Five Lagoons |
| Six days | Handprint Cave |
Asik Travel also says a two-day version is normally too much movement for too little island time, and that four days feels much less rushed. A seller gains from a longer booking, so weigh that. Even so, the crossing times above make the arithmetic plain: a short trip spends a large share of its hours getting there and back.
Why does the rate change with group size?
Most of the cost is fixed. Asik Travel explains that boat, fuel and guide cost the same for one person or six, so each extra traveller lowers everyone's share. The private-trip rows in the price table on this page are listed as each seller published them, so open the source to check a row before you plan around it.
Two practical points follow. A solo traveller or a couple pays the most per head on a private trip. And if your group shrinks after you pay, your share may rise, so ask how the seller handles a dropout before you commit.
Can foreign visitors join open trips at the listed rate?
Not on the published wording. Haraduta states its open-trip price applies only to Indonesian citizens. Tournesia says the same and tells foreigners to ask for a separate price. The Jelajah Sultra row in the price table on this page carries no such note, but silence is not permission.
A foreign visitor's real comparison is therefore between a quoted foreigner rate and a private rate, not the headline open-trip number. Write to the seller before you plan around that number, give your nationality and ask for the figure in writing, with any added fees shown.
What is actually included?
Read the inclusion list line by line, because sellers split the same items differently.
| Item | What sellers say |
|---|---|
| Snorkel gear | Asik Travel: outside its price, can be rented on Labengki. Haraduta: vest, mask and snorkel included. TripTrik: snorkelling equipment without fins. |
| Life jackets | Tournesia lists them. TripTrik's wording is ambiguous, so ask. Confirm the number and the condition with any seller. |
| Entrance fees | Sulawesi Eco Adventure lists entrance fees and permits. Come2Indonesia lists entrance fees and tickets for its excursions. Ask whether every stop on your route is covered. |
| Guide | Sulawesi Eco Adventure lists a local guide. Come2Indonesia lists an English-speaking guide. Language is worth asking about either way. |
| Left out | Come2Indonesia excludes flights, visas, tips and travel insurance. Sulawesi Eco Adventure charges extra for airport pickup in Kendari. |
| Landings | Not a line item, but plan on wet feet: labengkisombori.com, an operator guide, reports no piers at its stops. |
Why do Labengki trips cost what they do?
Sellers put it down to logistics. Sulawesi Eco Adventure says the boat has to be chartered because no public or shared service exists, all fuel, food and supplies come from the mainland, and tours run private or small-group, which lifts each person's share. It sells these trips, so treat that as its own explanation and not an audited cost breakdown. One part of it conflicts with other sellers: Haraduta, Tournesia and Jelajah Sultra all publish shared open trips, so "no shared service" can only mean no public one. Asik Travel's point about fixed boat, fuel and guide costs, covered above, fits the same picture. For snorkel stops bundled into the price, see Labengki snorkeling. Ask any seller to split boat, room and food in a quote if you want to test the explanation.
What should you check before paying a deposit?
The World Travel Guy says a deposit may be required because operators buy food and fuel first. Before you send money, get answers in writing to these questions:
- Which company is contracting with you, and whose account receives the money?
- Where does the trip start and end, and at what time: Kendari airport, the city or the harbour?
- Which boat, and how many passengers will share it?
- Which room type, and on which island, for each night?
- What happens if the quota is missed, or if weather stops the crossing?
- How much of the deposit comes back, and when?
- Does the rate depend on nationality or head count?
- Can the seller show a current licence and insurance for the boat?
The last question is one only the seller can answer, and this site cannot vouch for any operator's papers. Our page on whether Labengki is safe covers the boat questions in more depth.
How does the desk fit in?
This site is a guide with a request desk. We do not own or run boats, rooms or tours, and nothing here reserves a seat. You can use everything above to book directly with any seller named. If you write to us, a request can lead to a paid booking, so we have a commercial interest, and you should weigh our answers with that in mind. Any fee, the price and the company that contracts with you are stated in writing in an offer before you agree. Only that written offer binds anyone.
What else do buyers ask about Labengki tours?
How much does a Labengki Sombori tour cost?
It depends on the format, the length and your head count. The price table on this page sets out third-party figures by seller, with the month each was checked. Open the source of any row you plan around, and ask for a current figure in writing.
What is an open trip to Labengki?
A shared departure that strangers join individually, sold per person with a minimum number of participants. Haraduta, Tournesia and Jelajah Sultra all publish versions. If the quota is missed, the seller may cancel or change the price, as Haraduta states.
What is included in a Labengki tour?
It varies by seller, and the differences matter. Haraduta lists a vest, mask and snorkel. Asik Travel leaves snorkel gear out of its price. Compare written inclusion lists line by line, covering meals, rooms, airport transfers and safety equipment.
Can you visit Labengki without a tour?
Yes, if you arrange your own boat and room, but there is no public ferry to rely on. Asik Travel says every crossing is a chartered or tour boat. That makes a charter the realistic alternative, and it means finding the boat yourself.
Can foreigners join a Labengki open trip?
Not automatically at the listed rate. Haraduta and Tournesia both limit their published open-trip price to Indonesian citizens, and Tournesia tells foreigners to ask for a separate price. Ask before comparing it with a private trip.
Which published prices did we check?
Third-party listings and official fees, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Rates change and some open trips are listed for Indonesian citizens only; check the source before you rely on a figure.
