By Labengki Island Editorial Desk

This site is a specialist English-language guide about Labengki Island and the neighbouring Sombori Islands, published under Juara Holding Group and prepared by the Labengki Island Editorial Desk. It has a request desk and does not run boats, rooms or tours, and facts taken from sources name them.

What is this site?

Labengki Island is a travel guide with a narrow subject and a request desk attached. It is written for people deciding whether to spend money and time on Labengki and Sombori, and it concentrates on what such a reader struggles to find in one place: the lagoons, the giant clams, access from Kendari, and the practical limits of islands that depend on generators and boats.

It is not a resort, dive centre, tour operator, airline or government body. We do not own or run boats, rooms, tours, schedules or packages. The pages are compiled from published sources and are not first-hand reports, so read them as a careful summary of what others have said, with the speaker named. If you want a place to start:

What are the basic facts about Labengki Island?

The table below is also a sample of how the site works. Each line says where it comes from, and the type of source tells you how much weight it can carry.

Labengki's history as a destination is short. The Jadesta listing says it opened to tourism in 2016 and has received visitors from Germany, India, France and China, among others. ANTARA reports the 2024 Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia result, and we report it as exactly that: one programme's shortlist, named along with the outlet that carried it. The BKSDA Sultra blog supplies the park designation, and the KSDAE office describes the village group, which provides homestays, guides, souvenirs and fish products. Traveller accounts give different and older population figures, which is why the table uses the dated official one. Sombori has its own facts and its own Sombori Islands page.

How are facts chosen and dated?

We aim to tie each factual statement to a named public source and list it at the foot of the page. Practical tips, such as what to ask a seller, are our own suggestions. Sourced facts name their source, and prices show the month they were checked. Where a date changes how far a claim can be trusted, we state it, because a generator report from 2018 is different evidence from an undated operator guide. When a source gives no date, as with the routes and flights the Central Sulawesi tourism office lists, we say so and ask you to confirm.

TravellersThe World Travel Guy, Voyage in Style, Jonny MelonOne trip's account, never presented as current general fact

Some things readers ask for are missing on purpose. With no source to support them, you will not find a fixed ferry timetable here, a single crossing time from Kendari, one best month for sea conditions, visibility figures for a dive site, or a rating of any resort or operator.

How do you handle sources that disagree?

We show both and say who said what. A simple case is the address. Jadesta lists Labengki in Lasolo Kepulauan district, while an ANTARA report places it in Lasolo, the older district name. Those stop conflicting once the change is explained, and the page on where Labengki is does that.

Other disagreements stay open. The species in Shark Lagoon is unresolved on the Labengki lagoons page. On the power, signal and cash page, an official listing and an operator differ on ATMs, and we tell readers to plan for the cautious reading. An official source does not automatically win, because a portal listing can lag behind what is on the ground, and an operator does not automatically win either, because it has something to sell. We also refuse to blend numbers. If two sources give different times or prices, you get both, each with its name, and never a combined range that nobody actually published.

Where do the prices come from?

Every figure on this site comes from a public third-party listing or an official page, with its source and the month it was checked. None of them is our price or our offer. Amounts sit in a separate, source-labelled block on the pages they concern and stay out of the running text, where they would go stale unnoticed. This page carries none. Rates change, some open trips are listed for Indonesian citizens only, and a portal listing is not the same as a fee set by regulation. Check the source before you rely on a figure, and do not pay anything on the strength of this site alone.

Do you have a commercial interest?

Yes. Requests through the desk can lead to a paid booking, so we have a commercial interest. Any fee, price, payment terms and the company that contracts with you are stated in writing in an offer before you agree to anything, and the site itself is not a contracting party. We do not guarantee availability, sightings, safety or weather, and the full wording is in the disclaimer. Keep that interest in mind as you read. It is also why the guide does not rank operators or stays, and why a claim from anyone who sells a trip carries that seller's name.

How can a fact be corrected?

Write to the desk. Readers, hosts, operators and agencies are all welcome, and a correction is most useful when it includes the following:

  1. The page address and the sentence you think is wrong.
  2. What you believe is correct, and as of when.
  3. A public source with a link and a date, if there is one.
  4. Your connection to the subject, so that it can be stated if we use it.

The desk reviews the source and may change the text. If two credible sources now differ, both are shown with their names. Please leave passport details, payment data and other private information out of a correction, since none of it is needed.

What do readers ask about this guide?

Who runs this Labengki Island guide?

It is published under Juara Holding Group and prepared by the Labengki Island Editorial Desk. Pages carry the desk's name and no individual bylines.

Is this Labengki site a tour operator?

No. It is a guide with a request desk. It does not own or run boats, rooms or tours, and any booking would rest on a written offer that names the contracting company.

Where do the facts on this Labengki guide come from?

From named public sources: ministry and provincial agency pages, news outlets, conservation groups, operators and traveller accounts, each attributed and listed on the page that uses it.

How are Labengki facts checked?

The Ministry of Tourism Jadesta listing says Labengki opened to tourism in 2016 and has received visitors from Germany, India, France and China, among others.

Is Labengki recognised as a tourism village?
