Love Bay Labengki is Teluk Cinta, a bay named for the heart shape the sea makes when seen from above. ANTARA and Kompas say the shape shows from a cliff or hill you climb. The World Travel Guy points to Kimaboe Hill for views but says the full heart needs a drone. Expect a viewpoint stop, and possibly only part of the shape.
What is Love Bay Labengki?
Love Bay is the English name for Teluk Cinta, as operator Asik Travel gives it. It is a viewpoint stop more than a swimming stop: every account here is concerned with how the water looks from higher up, and none describes what you would do down in the bay. If you came looking for an enclosed lagoon, the Labengki lagoons page compares those. The other stops on a boat day are listed in our overview of Labengki Island.
The official record is brief. The Ministry of Tourism Jadesta listing names Teluk Cinta among ten visitor spots for Labengki, and a separate Jadesta package page lists it inside Labengki village and describes its heart-like form. On position, the most specific statement comes from The World Travel Guy, which says it sits near Labengki Nirwana Resort. Treat it as a place you reach with a boat crew who know it, not one you can navigate to from a pin. "Inside Labengki village" is the listing's way of filing it and should not be read as a walk from the houses.
| Source | Type | What it says about seeing the bay |
|---|---|---|
| ANTARA | Press | The love shape appears when seen from the cliff above |
| Kompas | Press | Visitors must first climb a hill to see the shape |
| The World Travel Guy | Traveller | Kimaboe Hill gives views; a drone is needed for the full heart |
| Jonny Melon | Traveller | Treats Kimaboe Hill and Teluk Cinta as one viewpoint stop |
| Jadesta | Official | Describes a heart-like form; lists it as a package |
Why is it called Teluk Cinta?
ANTARA gives the plainest explanation: the bay takes its name from the sea forming a love shape when seen from the cliff above. Teluk means bay and cinta means love, so Love Bay is a direct translation, and "heart shaped bay" is simply a description of the same place. The name is about geometry. Any romantic backstory you read elsewhere deserves a request for its origin.
The word Kimaboe causes a separate confusion. It is also the name attached to a clam covered in our piece on the kima boe clam. Do not assume a clam site at the viewpoint on the strength of the shared name.
Where do you see the heart shape from?
From above, and the sources differ on how complete the view will be. ANTARA says the cliff above shows the shape. Kompas says visitors must first climb a hill. The World Travel Guy agrees Kimaboe Hill gives views but says it takes a drone to see the full heart. The travel blog Jonny Melon links the hill and the bay as a single viewpoint, which suggests the "cliff" and the "hill" could be one place.
The fair reading for a traveller is this. You can expect to climb to a viewpoint over the bay. You should not expect the exact framing of an aerial picture. If an itinerary shows the complete heart from high overhead, ask how the picture was taken and whether the walk gives that view.
Length, gradient, path condition and walking time are not published, and a figure from us would be invented. Ask whoever is running your boat and treat the reply as their statement, then allow slack in the day. Wear shoes you can climb in, and carry water.
Do you need a drone to see Love Bay?
You need one only if the complete outline is the point of your visit, and only if you take The World Travel Guy's assessment over the two news reports. It is a conflict between an outlet's summary and one traveller's description. A reasonable way to think about it: the hill gives you the view and the sense of the place, and the drone gives you the complete shape. You can decide before the trip whether the second is worth the trouble of carrying the equipment and checking the rules.
Being on a tour with other people changes this too. Ask whether the group has time for a flight, and whether the crew or your fellow guests object. No one is obliged to wait for your footage.
What rules apply to flying a drone?
This is the section to read most carefully, because there is little to go on. Operator guide labengkisombori.com says it requires no permit of its own to fly a drone at its sites, while national rules under Ministry of Transport regulation PM 37 of 2020 still apply and vary by weight. That is one operator's summary. It speaks only for that operator's sites, and it does not grant permission for anyone else's.
This guide states no permit, weight threshold or fine. Labengki is also connected to a protected area, as the page on the Teluk Lasolo Nature Park explains, and a conservation agency's view may be separate from a transport rule. Before you pack a drone, take these steps:
- Read the current national rule yourself, for your drone's weight.
- Ask the provincial conservation office whether it requires anything for the park.
- Ask your host or boat provider whether they allow flights, and get the answer in writing.
How far is it from the Blue Lagoon?
Jonny Melon says the Kimaboe Hill and Teluk Cinta viewpoint is about ten minutes by boat from Blue Lagoon. It is one traveller's figure, and a different boat or sea could change it, but it does explain why the two are commonly thought of together. The Blue Lagoon post covers that stop, and the Labengki and Sombori itinerary shows how a boat day can be arranged. Jadesta's list also names beaches, the lighthouse and Kampung Bajo, should you want other stops to pair it with.
The price table on this page shows what Jadesta lists for the Teluk Cinta package. Read it as a portal listing for that package and check it on the Jadesta page. It does not establish an entrance fee set by regulation, and it does not tell you what a boat quote includes. Ask both questions if the bay matters to you.
